It’s Time to Celebrate!
December has many holidays, including our biggest cello holiday of the year: International Cello Day. Every year we celebrate our love for the cello on 29 December – the birthday of Pau Casals.
We also celebrate our Founders Day on 27 December, the birthday of Jeremy Montagu. This year we are also celebrating our Cello Museum Founders, who helped us hire our only paid team member, James de Cadiz, who will be with us at least through the end of January. Thank you, Founders!

2022 International Cello and Founders Day Giveaways
This year we have a wide range of prizes, and we’ll do two sets of prize drawings – one on the 27th for Founders Day and another on the 29th for International Cello Day.
On each of these days, we will pick one grand prize winner. The grand prize winner may choose a prize from the list on the sign-up form below. In addition, a second-prize winner will get a T-shirt, and a runner-up will get a sticker.
Grand Prize Options
1. A T-shirt and a Nancy Green CD
If you pick this option and are a grand prize winner, you get to choose which CD you want, and you’ll get a T-shirt.
2. A Cello Guild Course
If you are a grand prize winner and choose this option, you may pick one of the following courses:

- Mapping the Fingerboard by Jonathan Simmons
- An Introduction to the Celtic Cello by Clíodhna Ní Aodáin
- Venturing Beyond First (a deep dive into 2nd and 4th positions across all four strings) by Erica Lessie
- Moving on Up (a deep dive into 5th and 6th positions across all four strings) by Erica Lessie
A Private Lesson
If you choose this option and are a grand prize winner, you may opt for an online private lesson with Clíodhna Ní Aodáin, Jonathan Simmons, Erica Lessie, or Brenda Neece. The lesson with Clíodhna Ní Aodáin is only available for the International Cello Day prize drawing. The lesson with Brenda will be a 60-minute private consultation about website building and related online-marketing topics for artists in anticipation of a new Cello Guild course that will be offered in 2023.
Please note that the lesson with Clíodhna Ní Aodáin is quite exceptional as she usually does not have time to teach private lessons!
