Although for some of us, every day is cello day, International Cello Day (ICD) is an official designation, celebrated each year on December 29th.
Why this specific day? ICD honors the legacy of the cello and its most influential players, particularly the legendary Pablo Casals, born 29 December 1876.
Casals revolutionized cello performance and helped elevate the instrument to new heights. But this day is more than just a tribute to Casals – it is an excuse to celebrate the vibrant global community of cellists and cello lovers.
